This practical weekend will provide an opportunity for participants to develop their yoga in a focused and supportive environment. There will be plenty of time to explore some of the different aspects of yoga, including asana, pranayama, mudra and sound. Under the guidance of these two teachers, students will be encouraged to cultivate attentiveness and acceptance in their practice.
Lisa and Cara’s approach to asana is based on an understanding of the relationship between the action of breathing, our connection to the ground, and the response of the body. The asana practice will prepare students for periods of sitting, where various techniques will be explored to help bring steadiness and quiet to the mind and body. The peaceful and beautiful environment of Lendrick Lodge combined with the teaching and the focus of the participants, will encourage a meditative atmosphere as the weekend develops.
There will be three periods of yoga on both Saturday and Sunday, including early morning gentle asana and quiet breathing sessions. These will be appropriate for all levels of Yoga student, from beginners to experienced Yoga practitioners. There will be an optional class at 5pm on Friday for those who arrive at Lendrick Lodge in time. On Monday, an extended morning class to bring the weekend to a close. Students are welcome to attend as many of the Yoga sessions as they wish. Time has been scheduled to enjoy the countryside around Lendrick Lodge, with the option of evening/afternoon walks, weather permitting.
Lisa completed her Yoga Teacher Training in 1997, having studied under the guidance of Mary Stewart, Sophie Hoare and Peter Blackaby. She teaches a programme of regular classes and workshops in Brighton, including classes for young children and classes for older people. In addition, the past few years have seen her teaching more nationally, and involved in yoga teacher training.
Cara has been teaching yoga in Brighton since 2000 and has completed the British Wheel of Yoga teacher's diploma with Peter Blackaby and Ulla Allanson. She also has a degree in philosophy and a particular interest in this aspect of yoga. Her teaching is inspired by the much-needed calm and clarity that her practice brings to her life.
Lisa and Cara regularly practice and teach yoga together. Over the years, their interest in the more meditative aspects of yoga has increased. This will be the first retreat that they have taught together, and they are looking forward to the opportunity to spend time developing themes and exploring practices in depth during the four days.
