When creating and maintaining a flexible practise, as in all aspects of life creating good foundations are most important. Once the foundations have been established you can maintain and build on these.
The basic principles and foundations of yoga are imperative for a safe progressive practise. This weekend will work with these principles to enable you to create an ongoing regular practise at home. "We will practise asanas together based on “stretching, bending, rotating, and relaxing, with the aim of purifying and strengthening each organ, bone and cell of the body“ Wendy will also lead you in healing meditation while reminding you of the importance of breathing towards pranayama practise.
“Yoga is a combination of physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and spiritual therapy, a healing science which does not distinguish between the physical and physiological bodies.”
Wendy has explored yoga for a number of years, initially being introduced to the discipline from the age of eleven while at ballet school. Yoga came back into her life when she trained and studied with the MacManaways, a family of healers in Fife. Eventually teaching yoga classes herself, her approach came from a holistic perspective. She had ongoing training in the Iyengar tradition while her children were growing and in the late nineties she studied the Astanga method of yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in India. She did her teacher training in the Iyengar tradition, gaining her diploma in 2000. Teaching yoga workshops at Lendrick Lodge over the last 2 years, Wendy has ongoing classes and workshops at the Westbank Centre in Fife and continues to study with Senior Iyengar teachers in India and elsewhere.
